QSLing

I have always enjoyed collecting QSL (verification) cards from all kinds of radio stations. The oldest card in my collection was issued by Radio Sweden in 1980. A few years later, I started listening on the amateur bands, and used a home-made card to send listening reports.

The card surely did not look very professional, but nevertheless it generated replies from hundreds of amateur radio stations. Nowadays, I rely on commercial QSL printing services that offer full-color QSLs. But there is one thing that has not changed in the last twenty-five years: the thrill of receiving a card from a rare or far-away place!

I usually send out QSL cards for all contacts I make, including contest QSOs, via the QSL bureau. There is currently no QSL backlog for any of my operations. QSL cards for all contacts made from V51/DL5XL have been sent to the QSL bureau, direct cards will be replied to in a timely manner.

If you still need a quick QSL card for V51/DL5XL or any of the other call signs I have operated (even if the QSO is a long time ago), please send your request to this address:
  • Felix Riess, Süderortsweg 3, 27628 Sandstedt, Germany
This address is current since November 2005. Please not that any other address you may find for DL5XL somewhere on the web may still work, but significant forwarding delays must be expected.

Return postage (1 IRC, old or new, worldwide or US-$1 for Europe respectively US-$2 for the rest of the world) would be appreciated, and I'll do my best to give you a fast response. Bureau cards are gladly accepted, and I strive to maintain a 100% QSL rate via bureau.

Operations for which QSL cards and logs are still available and which can be confirmed via DL5XL include:
  • 3V8BB (March 20, 1999 only!)
  • 4U1ITU (January 1990 and August 1991 only!)
  • 9H3UD (1995 and 1996 only!)

QSL requests for DP1POL should not be sent to my address, but to DL1ZBO who is the QSL manager for DP1POL. Sorry, I do not send or collect so-called "e-QSLs".

Please note that I am not QSL manager for any station from Bosnia (T9). Check the link to IK3QAR on this web page for an exhaustive QSL manager data base that will be able to provide the needed route.

And, finally, if you have worked or heard me: Please QSL! Your card will be very much appreciated, and you will get mine in return (if you have not received it already).
