DL5XL Short Wave Home Page

Links

This is by no means an attempt to create a near-complete list of short wave related links. There are far too many of them, and my time is far too limited to try to collect them all. Apart from that, there are enough sites around that offer extensive link lists. I would just like to point to a few sites that I found enjoyable. Please try them, you might like them!

Arbeitsgemeinschaft Telegrafie (AGCW-DL) e.V.
AGCW-DL is the largest club of CW enthusiasts in Germany. As I have been a board member of AGCW for eight years, I just had to put this link first. Read all about AGCW-DL's activities, contests, and awards on their web page!

MorseCat by DK5CI
Whether you want to learn CW or increase your code speed: this Windows program by Gerald, DK5CI, is for you! It works with any soundblaster compatible card or just the PC speaker. Best of all: it's free! Download MorseCat now and start practicing today!

Jack's Radio Fundamentals Homepage
Jack, WB8FSV, covers many aspects of the radio hobby on his web site. You should really spend some time to discover it all! There's something for the beginning SWL as well as for the experienced ham. My personal favorite is A Beginner's Guide to Making CW Contacts, a must-read for newcomers to the code!

The Vibroplex Collectors Page
There are more modern ways to generate the code - there are even people who use a keyboard to send Morse Code. Still, the mechanic Vibroplex bug remains an all-time classic. I own one (serial no. 102,715), and although I am not yet very experienced at it, I love it! There are even people who have made a hobby out of collecting them. Visit this page and catch the spirit of the bugs!

SM3CER Contest Calendar
SM3CER maintains the best HF contest calendar I have ever seen on the web, complete with rules, results and links to the sponsors!

Audio Clips from V31BB
If you have been DXing in the late eighties or early nineties, you will surely remember Jim, V31BB. He had a most entertaining, although somewhat controversial, way of running his pile-ups. I can very well remember working him on 10m from our high school club station DLØMCG. Some of his transmissions can be found on this web page as audio files. You cannot afford not to download them!

QSL Information Pages
If you like to collect QSL cards from broadcasters (like I do), this page is for you. Martin Schöch has collected a wealth of information about QSL addresses and procedures. Before you send a reception report anywhere, check QIP to find out all you need to know to really get that rare QSL card!

[deutsch] Paxon - the perfect Packet Radio software
Ulf, DG1FAZ, has created what I believe to be the best Windows software ever written for Packet Radio on the amateur bands. Paxon supports FlexNet as well as host mode TNCs and offers every feature the serious operator could possibly dream of (except for Morse Code output, that is!). Best of all: it's totally free! Try it, you will like it!

Felix the Cat Home Page
Excuse me for putting a link here that is entirely unrelated to Short Wave, but my pages would not be complete without this one. Felix is a popular name for cats, so I just had to link this page. Nothing very exciting, just some information and merchandising centered around the popular cartoon character "Felix the Cat".
(Thanks to Craig, WX5DX, for the nice logo!)
