Welcome
DL5XL Short Wave Home Page

Welcome

Thank you very much for visiting the DL5XL Home Page! Here, you will find information about my activities in amateur radio and short wave listening. If this is not what you're looking for, you probably have come to the wrong place. This page is not intended to explain what Amateur Radio and Short Wave Listening is all about, it rather addresses hams and SWLs who would like to get to know DL5XL. Please check Google or similar web catalogs for other pages that provide general information about Short Wave radio.

I was born in 1970, have started Short Wave listening as early as 1980, and eventually became a licenced amateur radio operator in 1986. My first call sign was DH2AAD, which was to be changed into DL8OBC (October 1986), and finally DL5XL (January 2000). I enjoy CW, DXing, and contesting, and I also like Short Wave Listening in general - from broadcasters to beacons.

I am an electrical engineer by profession and work for a company that provides logistical and technical support to polar research. In 2005, I got married to Christine, DH3FBS. We have two children: our son Lennart Jonte was born in 2005, and his sister Charlotte Jule arrived in 2007. We live in Sandstedt, a village situated on River Weser near the city of Bremen in Northern Germany.

The list of stations I have operated includes 3V8BB, 3YØX, 4U1ITU, 4U1VIC, 5A2A, 9H3UD, C3ØEFA, EA8/DL8OBC, HBØ/DL8OBC, KP4/N5BC, LX/DL8OBC, S583D, TA3ZI, T7ØA, V51/DL5XL, WØAIH, WP3R, and YM3DL, as well as portable setups from several German islands. During work assignments in Antarctica, I am active as DP1POL on the amateur bands.

To contact me, please use the mailform or instant messenger links provided on this web page. I'd also appreciate hearing from you in my guestbook.
